The numbers that actually matter
I know spec sheets can be overwhelming. There's a lot of numbers, and it's not always clear what matters. So let me break this down the way I would if we were sitting in my office.
The H-18PD500C handles 2000 watts continuous and 4000 watts peak. We don't just pull that number out of thin air. We test every batch on a bench with real amplifiers pushing real signal. We run them at full power for hours to make sure they don't cook. The impedance is 8 ohms, which is standard for pro audio. You can match it with most amplifiers out there.
The frequency response goes from 30 Hz to 1250 Hz. That's wider than a lot of subwoofer drivers. Most subs roll off around 100 to 200 Hz. This one goes high enough that you have flexibility with your crossover. You can cross it at 80 Hz, 100 Hz, or even 250 Hz if you're using it in a two‑way system. The sensitivity is 98.5 dB, which is high. What that means in practice is you get more volume for less amplifier power. Your amps run cooler and your system is more efficient.
What's actually inside this thing
I want to talk about a few things that don't always make it into the marketing materials.
The basket. A lot of cheaper drivers use stamped steel baskets. They flex. When a speaker driver is moving air at high volumes, the basket needs to stay perfectly rigid. If it flexes, the voice coil shifts out of alignment and rubs against the magnetic gap. That's how you get distortion. That's how drivers die. Our basket is die‑cast aluminum. It's heavier and more expensive to produce, but it doesn't flex. Period.
The cone. Paper cones are cheaper, but they absorb moisture from the air. Over time, they get heavier and less stiff. Carbon fiber doesn't do that. It stays stiff and light for the life of the driver. That means consistent performance over years, not months. The carbon fiber cone also means faster transient response and cleaner bass. If you've ever heard a sub that sounds muddy, it's usually because the cone is breaking up. That doesn't happen here.
The spider. Most drivers use a single spider. That's the part that centers the voice coil. When you push a driver hard, a single spider can struggle to keep the coil aligned. Ours has a double spider. Two spiders working together keep everything centered even at extreme excursions. Less distortion, less voice coil rub, longer life.
The magnet. I get asked about this a lot. "Why aren't you using neodymium?" Good question. Neodymium is lighter, and that's great for portable speakers. But ferrite has a big advantage. Thermal stability. When neodymium gets hot, it starts to lose its magnetic strength permanently. Ferrite doesn't. It holds its magnetism even at high temperatures. For a subwoofer that's going to live in a cabinet and not need to be carried up stairs every day, ferrite is often the smarter choice. That's why we built this as a ferrite magnet subwoofer.
The voice coil. Our coil is 5 inches with GBF inside/outside winding. Most 18‑inch drivers use a 3‑inch or 4‑inch coil. A 5‑inch coil has more surface area for heat to escape. When you're running a subwoofer hard, the voice coil gets hot. If heat can't escape, the coil expands, the glue softens, and the driver fails. With a larger coil, heat dissipates more efficiently. That means less power compression. Power compression is when the driver gets hot and loses efficiency. You turn up the amp but the speaker doesn't get louder because the coil resistance goes up. Our driver doesn't do that. It stays efficient even when it's hot.
The T‑yoke. It's chrome plated. That resists corrosion and looks professional. But more importantly, the T‑yoke shape focuses magnetic energy into the gap where the voice coil sits. More magnetic energy in the gap equals higher sensitivity and better control.

"Will this fit my existing cabinet?"

"What amp should I pair with it?"
